“We always knew that we wanted to live in Broughty Ferry as my family stays in this area and we both love it in general. We primarily viewed new build properties as our old house was 150 years old and ended up having a lot of age-related problems, so we wanted to find a home that would be reliable and wouldn’t face the same remedial problems as our previous home did.”

“We stumbled across the Balgillo Heights development quite randomly; we were driving to my mum’s house and saw one of the signs outside the development which immediately caught our attention. It was a very spur of the moment situation but we went into the development to have a little nosey and that's where it all started.

“Before visiting the Kirkwood showhomes, we had only viewed two other new builds over the past five years or so, alongside seeing a couple of our friends’ new homes. When we went to visit the Kirkwood showhomes, the size of the rooms and use of space really impressed us compared to the others we had seen. There is a much higher standard throughout the homes, particularly the style of doors in each room - it was one of the main features that stuck in my head once leaving.

“After that, everything happened very quickly, within a couple of weeks or so we’d paid the deposit and our old house was officially on the market.”

“The quality of the build is superb - far better than any that we’ve seen previously. We didn’t have a garden in our last house and we knew that would be one of our non-negotiable features due to the dogs. The garden in our new home is very generously sized, especially when compared to many other new build homes and is perfect for our two dogs.

"Another thing that stood out to us was the appearance of the home both inside and out, as I feel sometimes new build houses tend to lack character but this was certainly not the case when it came to our new home.

“My favourite part of the house would probably be the living room, as it's such a large space. It’s got two patio doors with long windows on either side which lets in a lot of natural light. During the summer, we love opening up the French doors to the garden and letting in some fresh air - it's great!”
