Having a utility room within your home is extremely practical and convenient - and it is often high on many buyers’ wishlists. We’ve shone a light on utility rooms, sharing the key benefits they can bring…
Benefits of a utility room
A utility room is an absolute must for a busy home, providing additional storage space while keeping reception areas clutter-free.
The kitchen, in particular, can easily become a busy space as it has a variety of purposes - from cooking and dining, to entertaining and relaxing. A utility room provides an extra space to keep the practicalities and chores of home life separate, helping to reduce clutter and noise in your home - it’s great being able to close the door on a noisy washing machine!
For people with children and pets, a utility room is also an extremely handy space as it prevents muddy shoes (or paws) from being walked through the house. You can also use this area to store outdoor footwear after being in the garden or out on a walk, or even as a dedicated space for the dog bowls and bed!
Insights from the Kirkwood team:
Shirley Craig, Kirkwood’s Sales Manager, has worked with a wide range of customers over the years, and knows first-hand how important a separate utility room is.
She says: “So many people are searching for extra space in their new home, but that doesn’t have to be limited to the main living areas. Having a dedicated utility room can make a huge difference in a home as it’s the perfect area for laundry and household appliances.
“A number of our utility rooms also benefit from an additional storage cupboard, which many of our customers use as a pantry - so this can also be a functional space for the baker or aspiring masterchef in the home!”
