Kenny, Laura and their two boys recently moved into their brand new Kirkwood property in our beautiful Kingsford Rise development, Alford. We asked Kenny a few questions about why the family chose Alford, their experience with Kirkwood Homes and what they love about their new house…
What was it about Alford that attracted you to buy your new home there?
"Laura and I were renting a house out in Echt for nine years and we had been saving and waiting for the right home that ticked all the boxes. So when this development came up it was perfect because my oldest goes to school in Alford already. It really is a brilliant school - it has everything for the boys including football pitches, big sports halls and even a swimming pool.
"We didn’t consider Alford until the Kirkwood Homes development launched. Alford is one of those places that really does have everything you need in one place."
What are your favourite things about your new Craig Kirkwood Home?
"Because there are only four of us, the three-bedroom was a perfect size. I’ve found that The Craig is so well laid out and proportioned and having a garage creates lots more storage space.
"Also, I love my en-suite bathroom. We came from a house with one bathroom between the four of us and it just makes things so much easier. Also, the kitchen/diner is so nice for cooking because the boys can get involved as well, they can sit at the table and you aren’t just stuck in the kitchen cooking - I really feel the benefit from that already.
"It is also a peace of mind that it is a new house and you can walk in the door and feel at home. I’m surprised how well we have settled in already it feels like our home."
Have you seen a difference in your commute with the AWPR?
"I work as a mechanic for an oil company based in Dyce, so for me it’s made a big difference. From my house to work it only takes 40 minutes, which is fantastic. I can take my time and I don’t have to hurry anymore."
How was your experience with Kirkwood Homes from start to finish?
"Sometimes you go to showhomes and it feels a bit pushy or too formal, but Shirley was great and we discussed so many options. We also went to Countesswells where Diane helped us pick our samples for the finishes for our house. Diane and Shirley were both brilliant and throughout the whole process Kirkwood Homes made it really easy and simple with no pressure."
