We recently caught up with Tom Lobban, Kirkwood Homes’ Senior Sales Advisor at our popular Balgillo Heights development, to give us an insight into his fast-paced role and why he believes the sought-after Balgillo Heights development in Broughty Ferry is the perfect place to call home.
Tell us about your background and what led you to a career with Kirkwood Homes?
“I have a primarily sales-focused background and have always enjoyed working with the public. When I was approached by Kirkwood about a sales position, I had experience in both the motor and oil and gas industry, but felt ready for the next chapter in my career. With having a keen interest in property, a sales role with Kirkwood immediately piqued my interest, coupled with the fact I would be working for a luxury developer."
What does a day in the life of a Senior Sales Advisor at Kirkwood Homes look like?
“A large part of my role is meeting with prospective clients and listening to their housing needs and preferences to help them secure the best housetype to suit their requirements. I also guide and assist clients with an IFA and legal representation, and embark with them on their journey to the handover of their new home. Building a relationship with clients from our initial meeting through to the first walk-through of their new home is really fulfilling - it’s one of my favourite things about the job!”
What makes you so passionate about your role?
“It has to be the product. I believe that a Kirkwood home is second to none, which is why I bought one myself! I think it makes my job easier knowing that I’m passionate about the product I’m selling, and I genuinely believe in its quality and value.”
What do you love most about Balgillo Heights and why do you think it’s such a desirable place to call home?
“First of all, I think Balgillo Heights is in the perfect location. It has excellent commuting links to Ninewells and Aberdeen and although the development is in close proximity to Broughty Ferry, it’s not right in the town’s hustle and bustle, making it very peaceful and welcoming. I think customers are drawn to Balgillo’s slower pace of life and strong sense of community - it’s just a generally lovely development with lots of open space for kids to play and neighbours to get to know one another. Dundee city has also received a lot of investment in the past few years, which is another pull factor for the development.
“Balgillo Heights is increasing in popularity for these reasons and we’re seeing more and more customers enquiring about the development from Tayside, Edinburgh - and even London! 243 houses have been sold since the first residents moved into Balgillo Heights in 2020 and there’s no sign of interest in the development slowing down any time soon.”
How would you describe the quality of the homes?
“The quality of a Kirkwood Home is truly outstanding. We offer a fantastic build quality and a high standard of finish including German kitchens and top of the range Siemens appliances, Spanish tiling and quality sanitaryware. “We have a great sales team at Kirkwood Homes! We all support each other and take pride in guiding our clients through their buying journey, helping make the process as stress-free as possible. There’s always something interesting in the pipeline and no two clients are ever the same - which makes each day really interesting! Our colleagues in Head Office are also very passionate - and always on hand if we need any help or advice.
I also really enjoy being part of such a big life decision for our clients and helping them to find their dream home, whether they’re a young couple buying their first property, or a family in search of their forever home.”
