5th Sep, 2023

At Kirkwood, we're passionate about building luxury homes within fantastic countryside or coastal settings for our residents to enjoy. One of these locations is the picturesque hamlet of Blackdog, which boasts our new development of stylish homes, Strabathie Village.

From the stunning seascapes and coastal backdrop, to the array of amenities and transport links closeby, we’ve shared the top reasons why Blackdog is the perfect place to call home…

Transport links

Blackdog’s strategic location offers excellent transport links, making it a dream spot for commuters and those who wish to explore further afield with ease. The A90 dual carriageway and the AWPR is right on the doorstep which connects the hamlet to Westhill, Kingswells, Aberdeen city and beyond - making the daily commute a breeze.

Blackdog also benefits from excellent public transport links, with regular services running from Aberdeen to Ellon, Peterhead and Fraserburgh to keep you well connected.

Not only that, Aberdeen International Airport is just a short drive away - perfect for those who travel frequently for work or leisure.

Cafes and pubs

One of the many charms of Blackdog is the wealth of local cafes and pubs nearby - perfect places for a catch-up with family or friends. The welcoming atmosphere of The Coffee Apothecary and The Chocolate Bar in Ellon, plus the Trellis Coffee Shop in Newburgh, are guaranteed to make you feel right at home. There’s also a range of excellent pubs north of Blackdog too - such as the Newburgh Inn, the New Inn, Brewdog and OGV taproom.

Mill of Mundurno and Buckie Farm in Bridge of Don, or The White Horse Inn in Balmedie are perfect for a casual pub meal, and conveniently located less than a 10 minute drive away from Blackdog.

For something slightly more formal, there’s the family-friendly Cock & Bull Restaurant just outside Balmedie. Here you can enjoy a diverse menu, excellent takeaway options and a delicious Sunday roast, or why not try the Meraki Restaurant and Cocktail Bar in Bridge of Don, which offers an ambient setting and tempting food and drink options.
