Kirkwood Homes and Sustainability
Our homes are built in timber frame, produced by Kirkwood Timber Frame in our own timber frame factory. Timber used in our homes is obtained from suppliers who provide FSC or PFEC certification that the timber is legally sourced from responsibly-managed forests.
In order to reduce waste within our manufacturing processes, timber off-cuts from the factory are used as fuel in our on-site biomass boiler. This reduces our reliance on fossil fuels for heating our office building and also reduces the amount of waste we have to send to landfill.
